Drainage Assessment and Design

Innovative solutions for pristine sports pitches and open spaces.

Addressing drainage problems in sports pitches and parks/open spaces can be a challenge due to various physical, environmental and practical limitations. These constraints can impede effective water drainage and affect the usability of these areas. CDS specialises in creating tailored remedies for inadequate drainage and flooding issues stemming from surface water inundation or groundwater complications.

Our expertise cover the following areas:

  • Deep drainage techniques to dewater and lower groundwater levels.
  • Surface water and catch-all drainage systems.
  • Spring line diversion and cut off.

Our three-step approach

Stage one: Identifying the problem

Before any assumptions are made, our soil engineers and drainage specialists meticulously survey the site, covering:

  • Topographic and hydro-topographic surveys
  • Hydro-geological investigation
  • Deep core sampling
  • Profile pit analysis
  • Soil analysis
  • Outfall design options
  • Utility mapping

Based on the desktop survey and on-site investigation results, our engineering team will establish:

  • Water table levels both current and temporal
  • The presence, and causes, of any impermeable layers in the soil profile
  • The drainage and surface water management options

Stage two: Defining a solution

After finalising budgets and agreeing on the drainage scheme type, CDS will proceed with Stage 2 design work, encompassing:

  • Production of detail drainage design drawings
  • Production of detailed specification documents
  • Production of Tender Documents including bill of quantities
  • Tender contract management

Implementation of Drainage Strategy

CDS ensures that selected contractors execute the drainage design precisely according to the agreed specifications, within the set timeline and budget. Our thorough client relationship package guarantees clear communication and diligent supervision of contractors throughout the project, from initiation to completion.
